Statutes of the Sewer Systems and Processes Working Group (SS&PWG) under the IWA/IAHR Joint Committee on Urban  Drainage


To disseminate information about sewerage systems, in particular to coordinate research and development activities relating to physical aspects (structure and layout);  physical processes hydraulics and transport of solids);  chemical and microbial processes (pollutant occurrence, transformations and interactions); and interactions where appropriate with sources and destinations such as environment (via overflows) and treatment plants. Activities will relate to system design, operation, rehabilitation/renovation, maintenance and control, and will overlap to some extent with IWA specialist groups. However, the group will act as a focus for (in-sewer) process activities.


  • Arrange specialised conferences, technical meetings and sessions at international conferences and seminars.
  • Arrange and support international workshops and courses.
  • Disseminate information via SS&PWG home page.
  • Initiate and support the production of reports and manuals.


Open to all IWA members and appropriate IAHR members.  The Committee will comprise two members from each country who are actively involved in some aspect of Sewer Systems and Processes.

In the future, only the Vice-Chairman/Secretary will be elected. This person will serve for 3 years as Vice-Chairman/Secretary and hereafter 3 years as Chairman. There is no possibility for re-election after 6 years.


Meeting will be held at least annually, in association with conferences or specialist meetings.
